The European Union, United States and NATO are accusing Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus President, of manufacturing a migrant crisis on the EU’s eastern front as retribution for sanctions over human rights abuse.
Thousands of migrants are stuck at the Belarus/Poland border as the area faces a humanitarian crisis with migrants and refugees attempting to reach Europe. With few supplies, troops blocking their path forward, and the arrival of winter, migrants are using whatever they can to make shelter and stay warm.

While humanitarian aid has been sent to a refugee camp along the border, more migrants are continuing to arrive. Mainstream media is bashing the migrants, that they are being encouraged by Belarus to trek toward the European Union. Belarus denies these accusations. In response to the region becoming a hotspot for migration, Turkey has suspended ticket sales to people from Iraq, Syria and Yemen who are trying to reach Belarus.
Poland’s president says he is protecting Europe from thousands of migrants trying to enter the EU from Belarus. Polish troops set up razor wire fences and used water cannons on migrants trying to cross over. Some migrants have died, with one man drowning trying to cross a river.

European countries accuse Belarus of flying in thousands of migrants, mainly from the Middle East, and pushing them to cross the border illegally, as a tactic to punish Europe for sanctions imposed over a Belarusian crackdown on pro-democracy protesters.
